India as a country is definitely growing but the human condition is deteriorating with each passing day. On one hand child labour is the big issue and on the other begging is a menace engulfed in a nexus. I saw this little girl on the eve of Republic Day. She was selling a flag and many more like her were on the roads that day. I saw in her eyes and could not stop myself from penning down my thoughts…. #ChildhoodAtStake
She bents on my windowpane with an awful pain
Her eyes struck mine thinking of some gain
She holds my attention with that innocent face
She bents on my windowpane with an awful pain
I saw shattered dreams, bright future at stake
She is a girl belonging to my tribe
Still I wonder to see her plight
She bents on my windowpane with an awful pain
Scruffy she looked but innocence I spot
Young dreams are precious how vulnerable I fall
Million hopes dying which I see like a stone
She bents on my windowpane with an awful pain
She loves my country absolutely
My tri colour is giving her hope unconditionally
She is bound to make money, famished she is
She bents on my windowpane with an awful pain
There I sat with questions in my mind
How Republic I am? How Independent she feels?
School is her place but roadside she sleeps
Real her struggle is, tough her life is
I live with dignity, she too has her rights
My country loosing one more talent,
One more hope, one more resource
I wish my windowpane had some hope
One magic wand is all I need
For she deserves to be set free
Not to be bending on my windowpane
For I cant see that awful pain
